They wandered lost and lonely
In a strangely quiet land.
They couldn’t know that miracles
Were soon to be at hand.
This man that they called Jesus
Had suffered and had died.
Upon the cross He suffered
As those who loved Him cried.
His lifeless body taken down
Was laid within the tomb.
Silently they closed it up
Their hearts were filled with doom.
Three days had passed in silence
And people mourned and wept.
Jesus beaten, crucified
And in the tomb, He slept.
Sunday morning’s quiet dawn
Did not foretell the way
That Christ would soon appear to them
On that first, blessed Easter day.
Standing there before them
In the quiet upper room.
He said to them, “Peace be with you.”
As he put an end to gloom.
As we cry through Jesus’ death
And sit alone and cry.
We soon proclaim, “He lives again!”
Eyes raised up to the sky.
Jesus died so we might live.
He died to save all men.
Easter morning, we celebrate
That wondrous day again.
