It started early with holiday lights.
The radio starts playing, “Silent Night.”
October, November, the months fly by.
Before you know it, Christmas is nigh.
The lights remind us of that Christmas star.
So bright in the sky, it was seen from afar.
The light shone down on the babe in the hay,
Unveiling the place where sweet Jesus lay.
Songs tell the tale of that night long ago,
When Joseph and Mary had nowhere to go.
They went to the stable when day was done
To prepare for the birth of God’s only son.
Holiday packages, tied up in bows,
Remind us of something that everyone knows.
Wise men once brought frankincense and gold
To the small infant king, so the story’s told.
Christmas trees, decked out in tinsel and lights
Remind us again of those wonderful nights
The stars shining brightly, the angels’ sweet song
Young Joseph, sweet Mary, God’s small infant Son.
So let Christmas come! Light the house! Trim the tree!
Wrap and give presents, sing carols, like me!
Remember the star that shone bright in the sky
Would lead us to Jesus with Mary nearby.
Merry Christmas! God bless you now and always.
God bless us, every one!
