He sauntered down the dusty, unpaved streets of San Antone.
Since leaving old El Paso, he had traveled all alone.
Soon he found the streets were crowded, by a noisy throng
And as he stopped to rest that day he sang this Christmas song.
Little Jesus in the straw, the angels knew your name.
Shepherds in the field abiding, even wise men, came.
A star shined down in Bethlehem to lead them on the way
o the lowly manger where you slept upon the hay.
As he sang, the passersby did stop to listen in
Eagerly they gathered near and soon began to sing.
The words they sang proclaimed God’s love and
told of Jesus’ birth.
The Son of God had become the greatest gift on earth.
Mother Mary held you close and kept you safe and warm.
Joseph stood guard by your side, protecting you from harm.
Little savior in the manger, do you know my name?
God come down from Heaven, do you love us all the same?
He slowly walked along the street and heard a choir singing
Atop the church across the way the Christmas bells were ringing.
Christmas day had come again and faithful gathered here
to praise the birth of God’s own son and hold his spirit near.
Kings and wise men visited and knelt before you there.
Angel voices singing praise were ringing in the air.
Mankind joins in celebrating that glad Christmas day.
when Jesus Christ, the newborn King, slept upon the hay.
He felt the joy of Christmas, as he looked all around.
He smiled to think that Jesus, is where peace and joy are found.
From the streets of old El Paso to the streets of San Antone
With Jesus watching over us, we’ll never walk alone.
Merry Christmas from Texas!
