He walked down the twisted lane, while people gawked and jeered.
Wasn’t it just days ago that those around Him cheered?
He stumbled, as he bore the cross upon which He would die,
Pausing just a moment as he looked up to the sky.
Falling to his knees, another helped to bear his load.
A sad parade, with heavy hearts, trudged slowly down the road.
The streets were lined with people who called for his demise.
Oddly, these outspoken few could not look into his eyes.
The journey almost over, he was nailed upon that cross
While those who loved him grieved, distressed at what was lost.
He gazed upon his mother and those who knew him well
And with a few last words to God, his soul left its earthly shell.
The world grew dark that afternoon, the curtain split in two
God’s son had come to earth and died, to save the world anew.
Joseph gently took him down and placed him in the tomb.
The rock was rolled in front of it, sealing off the room.
That would seem to be the end of his life with us on earth.
But three days later he returned and put an end to death.
Jesus died and rose again to show us of God’s love.
He touches all our lives today with blessings from above.
May every Easter celebrate the gift of God’s blessed son.
Sing alleluia! Praise the Lord! For all that God has done.
Happy Easter!
