Miracle At Dawn
By Judith Shields Regini
Easter 2010
In the wee hours of a Sunday morn while stars began to dim,
Came some mourners to the tomb with God’s own son within.

They cried in desperation as they recalled the pain
When soldiers nailed Him to the cross while they stood by in vain.

They grieved together since that day and feared for days to come.
“What would happen to us now? What will we become?”

Now they stood, confused, dismayed before the empty tomb.
Christ, our Lord, no longer here had vanished from the room.

Frightened now, they turned to flee, but stopped and stared, surprised.
Jesus Christ, the risen Lord now stood before their eyes.

“Do not fear,” He softly said; and soon they understood.
The Savior Prince now lived again! The Lord is great and good!

Every year as we recall that solemn, painful day
When Jesus died so all would live, we kneel and start to pray.

As Easter Sunday dawns each year, we celebrate, we sing!
When Jesus Christ rose from the dead our glorious risen King!

Jesus Christ Has Risen Today!
Alleluia!
