Easter 2005
Memories
Easter bunnies, colored eggs and baskets filled with fun.
Families eating side-by-side ‘til all the food is gone.
Old ones, young ones, gathered near, will celebrate the day
And gather family memories, while little children play.

Crown of thorns, heavy cross, path to Calvary;
Jesus trudges to his death, for all the world to see.
Scorned and mocked, beaten, wounded, lead away to die
He obeys the Lord’s command without asking, “Why?”

Hands and feet are nailed to wood; the cross is raised up high.
Jeering crowds make fun of him; His Mother stands nearby;
Grieving for her blessed Son, she hangs her head to cry.
Too soon, she knows, the time will come, when our Lord will die.

Jesus cried out to the Father, one last desperate plea.
Then he died, the battle done, no more misery.
They buried him inside a tomb and sealed it with a stone.
Each was saddened; each heartbroken; each one felt alone.

Walking early Sunday morning, in despair and gloom.
They were troubled to discover Jesus’ empty tomb.
Then God’s angels told the people, “He’s no longer here!”
“Tell the world that Jesus lives and soon he will appear.”

His disciples got together in the upper room.
There the Savior stood among them; put an end to gloom.
There He blessed them with the Spirit; there he bid them, “Peace.”
Thomas doubted, then believed, as we now believe.

That Jesus Christ rose from the dead.  Blessed Easter Day!
Happy Easter!
