Oh Sweet Joy

Christmas 2015
It’s Christmas!  It’s Christmas!  Everywhere today!
Children run to see the tree and quickly shout, “Hooray!
Bells are ringing, carols singing, smiling all around
Family, friends and strangers love to hear the happy sound.

The vivid bows and packages are joyful to behold.
They remind us of the gifts of kings: myrrh, frankincense, and gold.
The cheerful songs of Christmas time are sung by everyone.
As with one voice, they praise the birth of God’s most precious Son.

In Bethlehem, so long ago, was born the Holy Child.
His Mother, holding Him so close, was blessed Mary Mild.
His Father, Joseph, proudly stood and watched his family.
God’s wondrous plan, now here on earth, for everyone to see.

He wasn’t wrapped in finest silk and where He laid his head
Was a simple stable; a manger for a bed.
He didn’t have a court of servants there to wait on Him.
Instead within that stable were the oxen and the lamb.

Shepherds from the fields above were following the star.
Kings on camel bearing gifts did travel from afar
All did come to see this Child, this wonder in the night.
They bowed their heads, amazed to find the child King in their sight.

Early Christmas morning at the church we go to pray.
Remembering the birth of Christ we celebrate the day.
Voices joined in one accord on earth and Heav’n above.
With joy proclaim the birth of Christ; the greatest gift of love.

Joy to the World!  The Lord is Come!
Let earth receive her King!
