They journeyed through the night to get to Bethlehem.
They could not know the blessings that were now ahead of them.
Mary rode atop the mule and stared into the night.
Joseph, walking by her side, comforted his wife.
As they got to Bethlehem, they were distressed to learn
there was no place to lay their heads; no matter where they turned.
The owner of a local inn took pity on their plightand offered up his stable so they could rest that night.
As the evening turned to dawn, a miracle occurred.
Mother Mary, filled with grace, gave birth to the Lord.
Joseph watched with loving eyes as the Son was born.
The miracle unfolded in this little, quiet barn.
As the baby rested, three kings approached the inn.
They sought the infant Jesus who was asleep within.
Bringing gifts of frankincense, of myrrh, and of gold
They knelt before the tiny King, whose coming was foretold.
Shepherds from their quiet fields looked up and saw a star.
It shone so bright they followed it to the stable far.
There in swaddling clothing, in the soft and gathered hay
Near his Mother, Jesus Christ, the infant savior lay.
Kings and wise men, shepherds, too, would praise the Lord that night.
When a tiny baby was bathed in heavenly light.
Angel choirs sang joyful songs, to announce His birth.
When the Lord’s most precious gift, was given life on earth.
May you and your family have the wonder of that first Christmas every time you celebrate this season. God bless you.
