In the early morning hours as the sun began to rise
people of the village would soon have a great surprise.
Days of mourning left them all bewildered and afraid.
Now they stood together at the dawning of the day.
It seemed to be so long ago, they greeted Him with palms.
Joyous voices raised in praise. They offered up their alms.
Then there came the beatings; the scourge, the crown of thorns.
Followers and Mother, now lonely and forlorn.
As they walked up to the place where Jesus’ body lay
They were confused and worried; the stone was pushed away!
He is not here! His body gone! Where is our blessed Lord?
Scared of what had happened here, they ran to spread the word.
They saw a young man dressed in white but didn’t know the face.
Then in awe they realized that God was in this place.
His disciples greeted him in the upper room.
“Peace be with you,” Jesus said, “I will leave you soon.”
Heaven rejoiced and angels sang that Jesus lived again.
He had suffered and had died and put an end to sin.
Jesus Christ is Risen Today! Sing his praise on high!
Alleluia! Praise the Lord! Loud hosannas sing!
Happy Easter!
