They wandered down the crowded streets
Depressed and filled with woe.
Could it be that He had died
Just one short day ago?
They met each other, hugged and cried
And shared their solemn grief.
With Him now gone, they still held on,
Still shocked in disbelief.
He came to Jerusalem
Hearing happy songs of cheer.
Hosanna! Happy voices sang
As the blessed one drew near.
But all too soon He stood betrayed
By a confused, sad man.
A single kiss upon the cheek
And the final steps began.
This man was beaten, tortured, hurt
And lead away to die.
Yesterday they saw the cross
His body raised up high.
He called to God then breathed His last
His face turned to the sky.
The curtain torn; the sky turned dark
And all began to cry.
The body bathed and wrapped
Was then placed inside the tomb.
The stone was rolled to close the door
To a dark, foreboding room.
So here they were, still sad, confused
Unsure just what to do
When Sunday morning taught them all
That life began anew.
The Saturday sad would melt away
To disbelief – then joy.
He stood before them on the path
All sins are now destroyed!!!
He is risen! Alleluia!
