The sun shone bright Palm Sunday. The man rode slowly by.
Palm fronds waved, voices raised Hosannas to the sky.
That night with His disciples, He broke both bread and wine.
Then He said that Peter would deny Him for three times.
He prayed to God the Father to spare Him from this end
But His path was set; “Thy will be done” He said.
Friday dawned, the end began as Peter disavowed.
Judas turned his back on Him; and sold Him to the crowd.
He was teased and beaten; thorns upon his Head
As blood ran down His wounded face, folks began to dread.
A wooden cross He carried; falling down three times;
Someone else would help Him as to the hill He climbed.
The curtain torn; the sky drew dark; people stood nearby.
Quietly in horror; his friends began to cry;
Hands and feet nailed to a cross; a spear into His side.
He looked to God in Heaven and quietly He died.
Saturday was desolate; disciples in despair
Gathered all together and spoke a silent prayer.
Sunday morning as they wept; a new Son rose in grace.
They found the stone was pulled away; He wasn’t in this place.
They trod the path in sadness; then saw the living Lord!
Hearts full of praise they couldn’t wait to spread the joyous word.
Jesus Christ is Risen Today! Hallelujah!
Our Triumphant Holy Day! Hallelujah!
May the peace and grace of Jesus Christ our Lord
bless you this Easter and always.
