Walk With Me
By Judith Shields Regini
Easter 2025

Hold my hand and walk with me along this quiet road.
Let me speak to you of Him whose coming was Foretold
Born a King, God’s only Son was here to save the earth.
Hard to think a baby boy could save us with His birth.

As he grew, he taught good men about His Father’s place.
In the temple, in the streets, He spoke of wondrous grace.
All too soon His life would change bad men would criticize.
They would take Him, beat Him, accusing Him of lies.

As He rode upon a mule with palm leaves waving high,
Loud hosannahs filled the air but soon, this man would die.
Thursday found him at a feast disciples gathered near.
This is my body, this my blood, but no one seemed to hear.

Soon the guards would seek Him out betrayed by a small kiss.
Peter would deny Him, too, knowing something was amiss.
He was tortured, beaten, a crown of thorns upon His head.
As they saw these things transpire, their hearts were filled with dread.

When it seemed that all was done, they nailed Him to a cross.
They did not know until much later, the fullness of their loss.
Jesus died on the cross that day and was buried in a tomb.
The people mourned and wailed and cried, seeing nothing there but gloom.

Sunday morning dawned bright and early and people went to pray
But when they went up to the tomb, the stone was rolled away.
He is not here! Where has He gone? They anguished with much fear.
Then they ran to tell the town and suddenly found Him near.

He was not dead! He was alive! God’s miracle lived, it’s true!
He had done what God decreed to rescue me and you!
So as we walk together, dear, please take my hand and sing
A song that celebrates this day, let our hosannahs ring.

Jesus Christ is risen today! Alleluia!
Our triumphant Holy Day! Alleluia!

God bless you this Easter and always.
